The Pan African Movement (PAM)
Rwanda Chapter kicked off its 2nd Leadership Program cohort at
Kigali Independent University-ULK on 4th May. This short course program aims to
train PAM members, especially students from higher learning institutions, who
will facilitate in training and sensitizing others the mission and vision of
PAM.
In his remarks during the launch,
Vice-Chairperson of PAM-Rwanda, Mr. Twagirimana Epimaque, shared that these
lessons will focus on fostering the desired Africanism spirit that overcomes
colonialism to shape competent African leaders like those who fought for
Africa’s independence.
“We want to develop capable future
African leaders who not only fight for a better African tomorrow, but who also
know African values, what Africa needs, and most importantly fight for African
unity. There are common understandings and decisions agreed on by African Union
member countries which have not yet been implemented. We believe that through
Pan Africanism, we have a role to play and bring a change for good.” Mr.
Twagirimana added.
The Chairperson of the ULK PAM
Chapter and ULK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nkundabatware Innocent, shared in
his remarks “we are building Africa to become independent in thinking,
capacity, and self-reliance. These lessons offered to our students and interested
members from other higher learning institutions are a great pillar in building
a fully independent African continent.”
The program trainers will include
the Chairperson of Rwanda
Elders Advisory Forum, Mr. Tito Rutaremara, and the Chairperson of PAM-Rwanda, Mr. Musoni Protais,
among others, and will run on weekends at Kigali Independent University
ULK.
